The VOICE Approach
Customer insight. Creative strategy.
Smarter Meta advertising.
Great Meta advertising starts with understanding people.
Meta has become incredibly good at finding the people most likely to respond to an ad. But it needs the right creative signals to find them, and the person seeing the ad still needs a compelling reason to act.
My approach starts there: understanding who we're trying to reach, what matters to them and what might make them take the desired action.
I turn those audience insights into creative strategy and connect that strategy directly to the way I manage your Meta account.
It's a structured system, assisted by AI but very much led by human judgement, experience and ideas.
A system for turning customer insight into creative that performs.
The VOICE Creative Framework gives structure to the way I research, develop and learn from creative performance. It turns customer understanding into ideas worth testing — and performance into insights for what we do next.
-
I start by getting close to the people we're trying to reach, drawing on customer feedback, reviews, your own channels and the conversations happening around your category.
I'm looking beyond demographics and broad personas to understand motivations, objections, awareness, language and life moments: the context behind why someone might act now when somebody apparently similar wouldn't.
AI helps me interrogate large amounts of information more quickly and uncover patterns and connections worth exploring. But it rarely comes up with the BIG IDEA, and doesn't decide what matters. That's where my 35 years marketing experience and judgement comes in.
-
I bring that customer understanding together with your positioning, competitors, existing creative and account performance to identify opportunities worth exploring.
That might be an overlooked motivation, an underserved audience, a different way into a familiar problem or a creative territory your competitors haven't considered.
-
This is where insight becomes ideas.
I develop genuinely different strategic angles based on what we've learned, rather than producing endless variations of the same message.
AI can help me investigate and develop an idea, but I don't outsource the thinking to it. Creativity comes from experience, curiosity, observation and making connections — and, often in my case, an idea that arrives halfway through a swim or while I’m in the shower!
-
The strongest ideas become clear creative briefs covering the strategic angle, message, hooks, format, visual direction and what the ad needs to achieve.
Good performance creative has to balance three things: what your audience needs to see to respond, what Meta needs to find the right people, and what needs to remain distinctive about your brand.
That doesn't mean every asset has to look the same. I use brand elasticity to retain what's recognisably yours while giving paid-social creative the freedom and diversity it needs to perform.
Production flexes around your business. I can brief and collaborate with your in-house team or bring in trusted performance-focused designers, video editors and creators where additional support is needed.
And there's no arbitrary quota of ads to hit. Creative cadence is shaped by your spend, performance and what the account actually needs.
-
Once the creative is live, it starts giving us answers.
I analyse performance to understand which ideas, messages and executions are driving results, then use those learnings to decide what to scale, stop, iterate or explore next.
And then we go again.
The goal isn't more ads. It's a system that keeps learning what drives more leads and sales.
The system doesn't stop at the brief.
I don't simply develop a creative strategy using my VOICE system, hand over a deck and disappear. Nor do I manage the media and wait for someone else to decide what ads to give me.
I develop the strategy, and use it to develop monthly creative briefs for my clients. I work with your in-house team or trusted designers and video editor specialists to get the right assets produced, and then manage those assets inside the account.
I track the performance of every single creative asset using my creative tracking system to establish what's working and what isn't, and to spot any patterns.
Performance informs my media-buying decisions and feeds directly into the next round of creative strategy.
The creative informs the media buying. The media buying informs the creative. And the learning never gets lost between the two.
“The creative direction feels warm, relatable and engaging, and does a great job of bringing our learning to life.”
